Hello humans of the internet! Yes I know that it’s a week into 2020. I’ve been busy over thinking this post. It’s the first post of the year. The first post of the decade. That’s a lot of self imposed pressure. I have come to the conclusion that it’s best to start the decade as I intend to continue: low expectations and an attempt at humor.
I’ve made some New year’s resolutions as usual. I thought about just keeping them to myself because it seemed to be a trend this year to not do resolutions. All my Facebook friends were talking about one word intentions for the year. I don’t fully understand that. Most of their words were things like, “organization” or “calm” which I feel like is basically resolutions to be more organized and to meditate. But, maybe not.
I decided that I like New Year’s resolutions. I don’t feel like new year new me. Just new year, still trying my best. I have 3 resolutions this year.
- Make more art. I feel like I could always make more art.
- Read the Bible. I used to read a chapter and journal about it every night, but I stopped because I’ve been too “busy” and “tired”
- Publish my poetry book. I wrote it. I want to publish it and let it go out into the world. And now I’ve written that down for all of y’all to hold me accountable.
Do y’all have a resolution? Can you explain one word intentions for the year?
Much love
AK
Your ideas sound achievable. The one word intention idea is a little challenging. Maybe “breathe.” I tend to rush around.
