New Schedule

Hello Humans of the internet!  It’s Monday.  The beginning of a brand new week.  It’s time to look forward and shed off all the behind.  I’m in kind of a weird mood today for a lot of reasons which I’ll get to later.  I’m calling this post New Schedule because I couldn’t decide what to call it and I do plan on sharing that at some point in this post

First of all, I feel like I have been almost completely absent from all things social media for a few days (give or take two weeks.)  I have good reason.  Some of you may recall the emergency vet visit on Halloween for my cat, Simon.  This was due to him taking a turn for the worst with his cancer which he had been fighting for close to a year.  The vet gave him some pain killers and anti-inflammatory medicine for him and assured us that you could live happily for another year.  Well, they lied.  But I spent all of my free time with him for his last weeks (actually, I spent most of my free time with him for all of his six years).  Maybe some of you can relate to this, I’m not a very social person.  I feel very uncomfortable around people, so Simon was my best friend even though he was a cat.  At least he was literally purring until his last breath so I know he was happy and calm.

I thought about adding a picture of Simon, but my old phone broke and I lost all of the pre-illness pictures of Simon so all I have is pictures of him wrapped up in blankets looking pitiful, which isn’t what he was like.

Moving on from sad news I’ve spent the last two days dealing with grief by completely throwing myself into writing.  Which means I have enough posts to post twice a week until the end of the year, which I think I will be doing.  Not many of them are related to dyslexia but hey, I call this “stories in the life of a girl with dyslexia” so this falls in to the stories section I suppose.  I can’t believe that It’s already this close to the end of 2017.  I simultaneously feel like the year just started and like so much has happened and changed for me in 2017 it must have lasted 4 years instead of just one.

I feel like it’s been a really long time since I’ve asked this, so how are you?  Are you all having great weeks?  I hope so.  What’s the best thing that has happened to you so far in 2017?  I’d really like to know.

much love,

(oh and I thought I could add this stuff down here)

  1. As a cat owner, I understand the special and unique bond with a pet. I agree with the above that writing stories about your cat would be a lovely way to help you through this and to keep his memory alive. Best thing that’s happened to me this year? Moved out of rented accommodation into our own home. And started my blog 😉 Though it took some ‘worst things that have happened to you’ to get there!

    1. Thank you. I’m honestly really surprised by all the support I’ve been receiving regarding Simon’s death. I’ll definitely share stories of him. And congratulations on moving into your own home! That’s so exciting!

  2. I have three dogs and the thought of loosing any of them is terrifying… Especially when you’re closer to them than you are to the rest of the world. I’ll be looking forward to that “interview” with Simon though!

  3. I grieve with you about losing your cat. People underestimate the depth of grief when a loved animal dies. Maybe you could share some Simon stories even if you can’t share pictures. I would enjoy that.
