The Chop

Hello Humans of the Internet!  As mentioned before, I’ve been looking for a change for my hair.  And I thought of one.  I decided to give myself a pixie cut and I’m really glad that I did.  Would I recommend cutting one’s own hair?  No.  It will not look good.  But it can feel very therapeutic.  So, I decided to write a post about my process.

Step 1: Look at pictures on Pinterest of people with beautiful short hair.

Step 2: Watch like three YouTube videos and convince yourself that you are now an expert on cutting your own hair.

Step 3:  Realize that you don’t have anything that you need to cut hair, then proceed anyway.

You have to make sure your hair is wet…I think…that’s what Google told me.

Step 4:  Timidly clip at your hair barely cutting any off at all.  This is probably where you should stop.  Just cut off any dead ends if you have to cut your hair yourself.

Look at that not much short. Some layering.

Step 5:  Gain confidence and just start chopping into your hair.  Will it feel amazing?  Yes.  There is nothing quite as liberating to me as cutting my own hair.  I don’t know why.  Maybe it’s the simply an act of rebellion against society.  Or maybe I was tired of my hair giving me a headache when I wore it in a ponytail.

This is what it looked like on the good side whenever I had finished with it.

Step 6:  Call whoever usually cuts your hair.  In my case, one of my best friends…he was a little disappointed with my lack of impulse control.

This is what the other side looked like after he fixed it.  It’s a little shorter and a little less wild, but it is my hair, so it’s always going to be a little wild.

Sorry for so many selfies.  It’s hard to take pictures of your hair without it being a selfie.  Anyway, have you every cut your hair, yourself?  How did it go?  I fee like I didn’t actually go that bad.  There was just some in the back that was uneven.  Don’t forget to come back next week, to see some Halloween stuff  (my original plan was to keep Halloween to just Halloweek, but I bought too much stuff.  So, Halloweek starts early this year! YAY!)_

much love, AK
