We’re All Just People on a Big Blue Planet #3

Hello Humans of the internet!  First of all Everything is fine here after Irma.  We have some limbs and trees down and the power was out for about 24 hours at our house.  But, today it was back to work and back to normal.  I would say, please pray for those who are still suffering from both Irma and Harvey, but I also think it’s safe to assume that if you are the sort of person that prays, you are already praying for them.  Today I am doing another We’re All Just People on a Big Blue Planet interview.  If you are new, as I believe some of you are and haven’t read the prior interviews I will link the last one here.  Without further ado, I’d like to introduce Brian:

Brian is a very cool hairdresser and video game player who happens to have ADHD and we had a really interesting discussion about that.

I began, as before, by asking what Brian feels his calling is.  He is very lucky to already be working in the field he feels passionate about.

“I’m a hairdresser and I want to be successful with that.”

After that we talked more about ADHD and how it affects his life.

“It’s definitely caused me a lot of issues in school (paired with delayed sleep syndrome leaving me horribly sleep deprived and amplifying it) and it makes some aspects of communicating hard.  I don’t process what people say as quick as I should sometimes and I forget parts of conversations easily.”

I asked if there were any positives that he could think of but he said, (and I agree on this) “It’s hard to say exactly.”  This lead to the next area of discussion.  The dreaded question, Would you change being ADHD? and this was Brian’s response:

“No, but if I could have an on and off switch for it, that would be nice.

And finally, one thought that Brian would like to leave you with is…

“Melee is the greatest game of all time.”

I hope that y’all enjoyed learning a tiny bit about being ADHD from Brian.  If you’d like to hear more about ADHD, I could probably beg him to do another post (we’ve been good friends since we were about 6 or 7.)  If you know anyone that you think I should interview for a future We’re All Just People on a Big Blue Planet, let me know in the comments or send me an e-mail at  Please, I have actually run out of friends to interview.  Also, if you can think of a way to shorten the name of this series leave a comment telling me.  Typing out We’re All Just People on a Big Blue Planet is a lot more work then I originally anticipated.

Much love, AK
