Hello Humans of the internet! I hope that you’re week is going great! Mine is going better then it was on Monday so it turns out that it was a long day not a long week. (Guess that was a bit of an over reaction). So, I made a discovery today that led to me writing a post about things that I believed for way too long, but it turned out there were way too many things. That post is being divided into a series of post of which this is the first.
I wasn’t sure how to introduce this other then by just saying it: I didn’t know that July had 31 day. I have spent the last 22 years of my life believing that there were only 30 days in July.
I discovered this yesterday while filling in my planner (I like to set monthly goals for myself). I was genuinely surprised when I noticed that both August and July had 31 days. My first thought was that there was a typo in the planner. I actually thought, “this is what I get for buying a planner from Dollar General. It was probably made under terrible conditions. This is the last time I’m buying a discount planner. They didn’t even care enough to get the right number of days.”
Anyway, I showed this to my dad hoping for a reaction. But instead my dad laughed at me. He retaught me a trick to remember how many days are in each month. It blew my mind. I can’t explain how much this blew my mind. I felt like I had been living a lie. I thought that there were only 30 days in July.
The only excuse that I could think of for this is that I didn’t typically keep up with the days of a month during the summer while in school. It was a time to not have classes. Honestly, I don’t know how I never noticed this. I really hope that someone out there also didn’t know that both August and July have 31 days or at least found it funny that I didn’t. I have about 5 more of these that I’ll post at some point in the future.
much love, AK
