Hello, humans of the internet. How was your week? I hope it was good. If it wasn’t I hope it gets better. If it was I hope things stay that way. Guess who had a dysadventure this week! That’s right. It was me. Again. Surprisingly, this week it was involving number instead of words like usual so I don’t know that it would technically be a dysadventure. I did use to have a lot of problems with numbers back in middle and high school because of my dyslexia. I thought I was free of that after freshman year at college when I got past all my core classes and would never be in another math class again. This week I discovered that numbers are actually really important in day to day life.
On Monday of this week our English professor gave us an assignment (as professors are prone to do). This assignment was on page 152 of the book. And we were to take a quiz on Wednesday based on the reading. For some reason (probably the dyslexia) I read it as 125 instead. And there was a short story starting on that page as well and I assumed that that was what I was meant to read. Then come class time on Wednesday there’s a quiz on my desk that means absolutely nothing to me. I had such a moment of panic I thought that I had just been too stupid to understand anything from the reading. I honestly just stared at the quiz for a good five minutes and then circled randomly (luckily it was multiple choice so there was some hope in the world.) I don’t remember at what point I realized that I had just read the wrong story and wasn’t being dyslexic times 1000. Needless to say when I got my quiz back it was not the best grade I’ve ever gotten to say the least.
I know that wasn’t the most exciting story, but that’s life sometimes it’s exciting and sometimes you’re just stressing about homework assignments. I can’t wait to graduate in May and finally be done with school. I’m trying to plan a little adventure for myself soon, we’ll see. If there’s anything in particular that you’d like to know about let me know in the comments all the way down at the bottom of the page. Until next week, keep it weird.
Much love, AK
