Hello, humans of the internet. This is the thing I talked about last week and you may still be confused so I will explain. Every month, I will be doing an interview with a human about their personal dreams and obstacles. Why? you ask. Well, because I feel like everyone has things that they let hold them back. Personal, I spent years thinking couldn’t be good enough because I had trouble reading and writing. After talking to some friends I realized that we all have personal struggles that we have to find ways through or around. My first interview is with my best friend and here it is:
“I feel that my calling is something with music. I’m hoping it’s a teacher because that is something I’ve always been drawn to. I enjoy helping people understand that there’s more to music”
Have you experienced any obstacles if so, what?
“People laugh at me when I tell them that I want to be a teacher because I don’t ‘look like one.’ I feel like I’m not smart enough or charismatic enough. And people laugh at me that I want to be a music teacher because it is not a ‘smart’ subject. You don’t get paid well no one wants music teachers. Also, my study is the voice and people don’t think you need to go to school to sing well.”
What inspires you to keep chasing your goals?
“I think, a lot of it is my teachers that encourage me. Another part of it is my over all love of music. I’ll be sitting in class and I’ll just remember how much I love music and need to do it. I have friends and family that have fought for what they want to do. I see people much older than me getting their teaching degrees and I know that if they didn’t give up, I shouldn’t either.”
Is there anything else you want to tell the humans of the internet?
“Be careful what you tell people. Even if you don’t mean it to be hurtful it will affect people. So choose words wisely.”
So, that was my short interview with my best friend, Amanda. I hope you found that fun to read and interesting. Don’t let people get you down. Come back next week for more adventures in my life and next month for the next interview. Let me know what you think about this interview we can talk about insecurities and letting negativity get to you. Until next week, keep it weird
