Happy Thanksgiving

Hello humans of the internet!  To all the American humans Happy Thanksgiving!  To everyone else Happy random Thursday.  But really there’s no particular reason not to be thankful on a random Thursday or any other day.  And that is what I’m going to talk about today.  Being thankful.  (Not the negative side of the background of the holiday.  If you want to talk about that go ahead and put it in the comments, I love talking about stuff like that).  But first, I’m going to be all sappy and talk about thankfulness, woo!

While scrolling through the internets today I saw pictures all over the place of people who were taking pictures of food and posting about all the things in life that they are thankful for.  Things like opportunities and family and all their many blessings and it got me thinking what am I thankful for?

Of course I’m thankful for my family:  they are all amazing and loving and make really good stories to tell my friends.

I’m thankful for my friends:  they are also amazing.  Really, there is overlap here.  I definitely count my siblings as my friends.  I love my family and friends.

I’m thankful for all the opportunities and great experiences that I’ve had that have filled my life with joy.

But, all that out of the way, I am thankful for all the challenges that I have faced.  I’m thankful for the people who have made me feel that I’m not good enough.  I’m thankful for the years I spent feeling useless and stupid.  I’m thankful for being dyslexic.  I’m thankful for every bad relationship (friendship or dating) in my life.  These are the things that have shaped me into the person that I am.  Without the more difficult parts of life I wouldn’t be the person that I am.  Yes, high school was difficult (who didn’t have a hard time in high school for one reason or another).  But, now I’m a stronger, braver person.  All parts of my life have lead me to be the person that I am now and I wouldn’t want to be anyone else.

More than anything else I’m thankful that God has brought me to this point and will continue to be here.  (Please don’t take any offense if you are not religious.  I included this because I am religious and I am thankful for God helping me through all things).

Well, that’s all I really had to say for this week.  (I’m posting on Thursday instead of Friday because it’s a holiday and I thought I’d be nice to do this.)  I hope you all have many many things to be thankful for in your lives and get to spend at least one day of the year eating all the food you want with the important people in your life.  I think I’m going to start some sort of Advent themed posts, just a heads up if you humans of the internets are curious about that.

Until then, keep it weird

much love, AK

  1. I just realized that I spent so much time editing this and making sure everything was spelled right that I actually posted this on Friday not Thursday which is actual Thanksgiving and the day that I claimed in the post to have posted it…whoopsies.
